Visualised function

An interactive visualiser for the 2D quantum harmonic oscillator — Hermite polynomials, degenerate states, the lot. You pick the quantum numbers and watch the wavefunction. Built because the textbook diagrams are static and the interesting thing about degeneracy is what happens when you move between states.

The 2D quantum harmonic oscillator has closed-form solutions built from Hermite polynomials, which makes it a good candidate for something interactive: no solver, no approximation, just evaluate the function and draw it.

Degeneracy is the part worth seeing rather than reading. Several different pairs of quantum numbers give states with identical energy and completely different shapes, and a static diagram in a textbook cannot show you the family.
